CNC MILLING PARTS:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are milled parts?
Milled parts are understood as mechanically machined workpieces that are produced by means of a cutting process – milling. Analogously, we speak of welded parts in welding, laser parts in laser cutting or turned parts in turning.
What is CNC milling?
The process of CNC milling is controlled by a microcomputer, which is located in the control section of the machine tool. This makes it possible to work with a precision that cannot be achieved with manual production.
How much does CNC milling cost?
The costs of CNC milling depend on the complexity of the order. You are welcome to contact us at any time for an individual consultation – completely without obligation – and we will go through your concerns in terms of duration and costs together.
How does a CNC machine work?
CNC machines stand for the term Computerized Numerical Control and are machine tools that can automatically produce workpieces with high precision for complex shapes through the use of control technology.
CNC MILLING PARTS
AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
With the high-precision CNC milling process in machining, we can offer you series parts of any size. Thanks to the CNC process, we work cleanly and precisely and thus generate the fastest and finest milling work for you.
CNC stands for “Computerized Numerical Control” – i.e. computer-aided and freely programmable machine control. It is a popular machining process in the automotive and aerospace industries and we are also specialists in this field.
The process of CNC milling is controlled by a microcomputer, which is located in the control section of the machine tool. This makes it possible to work with a precision that cannot be achieved with manual production. Parts can be produced in both small and large quantities.
WHAT EXACTLY ARE CNC MILLED PARTS?
Milled parts are understood as mechanically machined workpieces that are produced by means of a cutting process – milling. Analogously, we speak, for example, of welded parts in welding, laser parts in laser cutting or turned parts in turning. With the help of a CNC lathe, the milled parts become CNC milled parts, as they are milled in a special way by the automated process of the CNC lathe.
milled in a special way.
The CNC milling machine then mills the milled parts according to a geometrically precisely defined production drawing. In addition, the parts are made of different materials such as metal, aluminium, wood or plastic. The milled parts are characterised by their cleanly defined shapes and smooth surfaces.
These are produced and manufactured thanks to modern CNC machines. The parts can be produced by CNC milling machines or by combining a CNC lathe and a CNC milling machine. CNC milled parts are particularly popular in the aerospace industry.
CREATION OF THE CNC MILLED PARTS
The CNC milling parts are used with different degrees of freedom of movement, namely 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis milling machines.
The parts can be machined on CNC milling machines with the support of rotating tools:
- The 3-axis milling machines, which machine milled parts from an access direction, are less expensive than the other types of machines.
- The 4-axis milling machines have an additional rotation axis for the milled part, which is used, for example, to produce spindles and other helical geometries.
- With the 5-axis milling machine, CNC milled parts can be machined from all sides depending on the clamping – and equally complicated geometries can be produced.
Whether it’s special screws, model components or door handles – we at Fester & Zander can manufacture any piece to within a fraction of a millimetre with our CNC machining. With our CNC machines, it is possible for us to automate the loading, the tool change, the monitoring and also the quality control during the entire production process in our modern machining centre.
